Oleg Vidov
Born June 11, 1943, just outside Moscow. Died in 2017, aged 73, in Westlake Village, California.
The escape
Crossed from Yugoslavia into Austria in May 1985. The US embassy in Rome gave him political asylum.

More than 50, including The Tale of Tsar Saltan, The Headless Horseman, Red Heat and Thirteen Days.
The animation
In 1992 he and Joan Borsten Vidov bought the rights to a library of Soviet animation and restored it.
